Victor Miles, 33, of Flourtown, was observed driving a dark-colored Mazda south on Hulmeville Road near Byberry Road, the Bensalem Police Department said on Tuesday, Oct. 29.

The windows of the Mazda were heavily tinted, and as the officer got behind the vehicle, it sped up, committed a traffic violation, and almost crashed into another vehicle, according to police.

After pulling the Mazda over, the officer told Miles to roll down the vehicle's windows because he couldn't see inside due to the heavy tint, police said. Miles refused to comply and tried to get the officer to approach the driver's side window several times.

Other officers arrived and spoke with Miles, but he remained uncooperative, according to police.

One officer got close enough to the passenger side windows to see that Miles was the vehicle's only occupant, police said. That officer also noticed what appeared to be an "AK-style" rifle on the front passenger seat, within reach of Miles.

Miles continued to refuse commands, leading officers to believe that he was thinking about grabbing the gun before leaving the vehicle, according to police.

After tense negotiations, Miles exited the vehicle unarmed and was arrested, police said. The "AK-style" rifle was found to have an obliterated serial number, a loaded "banana" magazine, and a round in the chamber, meaning it was ready to fire.

Officers later obtained a search warrant and recovered an AR-15-style rifle that also had an obliterated serial number, numerous loaded firearm magazines for multiple types of weapons, shotgun rounds, a black "Balaclava" mask, a pair of gloves, and black hooded sweatshirt with black duct tape covering the white wording on the front, according to police.

Multiple containers of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were also found in the vehicle, police said.

Miles was charged with:

  • Felony Possession of Firearm with Manufacturer Number Altered.
  • Felony Alter/Obliterate Mark of Identification.
  • Summary Improper Sunscreening.
  • Summary Vehicle Turning Left.

He is currently being held in the Bucks County Correctional Facility on $300,000 bail, according to court documents. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 6.
